Family Atlas is an independently developed family-history app by Farzad Mahmoodinobar. This page explains how the app handles your information.
Your family library
Family Atlas stores the people, relationships, life events, notes, sources and photos you add to your library. You can keep a library on your device without creating a separate Family Atlas account. There is no developer-run family-library server.
If you enable iCloud features, library information and photo assets are sent to Apple's iCloud services for backup, sync or sharing. People you grant access to can view the shared library and, where permitted, make changes. Share only information you are comfortable making available to those people.
Contacts and photos
Contact lookup and matching run on your device when you choose to use them. Family Atlas can copy a selected contact's name, photo or birthday into a person record. Local contact-link information is kept separately from the shared library. Information you import becomes part of your library and can sync or be shared.
You choose which photos to add. Camera access is used only when you choose to take a photo. The app does not automatically upload your entire address book or photo library. You can revoke optional permissions in your device's settings; doing so does not remove information you already imported.
Diagnostics
The app records local technical diagnostics for troubleshooting. On iPhone and iPad, you can copy a photo error report containing technical details such as the build, failure category and correlation code, not the photo itself or the person's name. You decide whether to send that report to support.
Apple may provide crash or beta feedback information according to your Apple sharing choices. Family Atlas does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and does not use your family library for advertising tracking.
Your choices and retained copies
You control the information you add and who can access a shared library. Use the library controls to edit or remove information. Manage sharing lets an owner change access or stop sharing; participants can leave a shared library. Some shared edits require owner permission.
Your library remains on the device or in your chosen iCloud storage until you remove it there. Copies can remain in recovery points, backups, exports or copies held by other people. Removing a local copy, revoking a permission, or stopping sharing does not erase all of those copies. Preserve a backup before substantial changes and contact support if you need help identifying which copy to remove.
Support
For help with Family Atlas on iPhone, iPad or Mac, email hello@fmnobar.com. Include the device, operating-system version, app version/build, what you tried and what happened. On iPhone or iPad, Copy diagnostic details in a photo error can help. Remove private details from screenshots before sending them.
If photos or changes have not appeared, check the library name and sync status, allow time with an internet connection, and confirm that any sharing invitation was accepted. Do not delete the library or reinstall the app as a first troubleshooting step.
Support receives the message and attachments you choose to send. Your email provider and the services used to receive the message may process this information. We use it to respond and investigate the issue. Do not send account passwords or an entire family library. Contact the same address with a privacy question or a request about information you previously sent.
This website
This website is separate from the app. Its hosting provider may process ordinary request information to deliver and protect the site. Visiting this page does not give the website access to your family library. See the hosting provider's privacy notice.
