How Family Days stores and shares your trip journals, and how to get help.

Photos and local journals

Family Days keeps trip names, dates, writing, photo references and related journal information on your device. You choose whether to grant Photos access, including access to selected photos only. Suggested Trips uses dates and locations from accessible still photos. Limited access limits what it can suggest. Discovery does not use AI image recognition or create a journal without your confirmation.

The app displays permitted Photos assets and may keep thumbnails or app-managed copies needed for a journal or a shared trip. It does not delete an original from Apple Photos when you remove a photo from a trip. A photo that is deleted or no longer accessible may become unavailable in the local journal.

Private iCloud sharing

Local journals are not automatically uploaded to a developer server. When you explicitly share a trip, Apple CloudKit stores its selected content in private and shared iCloud databases. That content can include trip writing, selected photo copies, photo dates and location metadata, participant names, comments, likes, Activity and information needed for changes and removal requests. Invited participants can access content according to the permissions the owner grants.

There is no public trip feed or public sharing access. Owners can revoke access or stop sharing; participants can leave. Family Days cannot recall copies that someone has already saved outside the app. Apple provides iCloud storage and account services under its own policies. The app has no developer-run content account or content server.

Apple services and drafting

Maps and place/time-zone lookup use Apple services and may require a connection. iCloud Photos and shared trips may also use a network connection. Family Days does not ask for your live location to build a trip; it uses available photo metadata and journal information.

You can change or withdraw Photos access in the device’s Settings app. This may make local photo references unavailable. It does not recall photo copies already included in a shared trip; use the trip’s removal or sharing controls for those.

Optional story drafting uses Apple’s on-device Foundation Models on supported devices with Apple Intelligence available. You can request a day-story preview or edit itinerary details that help generate writing, and edit the result. The app does not send journal content to a developer-run or third-party AI service. Manual writing remains available.

Diagnostics

Family Days keeps bounded technical diagnostics locally to help investigate errors and performance. These can include app/OS/hardware-model details, event counts and timings, and sanitized crash or hang information. The app does not automatically upload these diagnostics to the developer. You can choose to export a diagnostic report through the system share sheet and decide where it goes.

Removal and retention

Removing a photo from a trip affects that trip, not its original in Apple Photos. Shared changes follow the owner’s permissions and existing removal/recovery controls. Stop Sharing revokes participants’ access while retaining the owner’s trip and its contributions locally and in the owner’s private iCloud storage. Leaving a shared trip removes your access; contributions already published remain with its owner. These actions are different from deleting the trip.

Deleting a local journal removes that journal’s active app data from the device. An owner’s shared-trip deletion can propagate through iCloud; other participants cannot delete the owner’s trip. Private recovery information, pending sync work and removal/change records can remain while needed for recovery or reconciliation. There is no promise of an automatic fixed-period purge. Removing the app does not itself guarantee deletion of iCloud data, and Apple may retain data under its own policies.

Advertising and tracking

Family Days has no advertising, cross-app tracking, third-party analytics or developer-controlled automatic collection service.

Support

Email hello@fmnobar.com for support. Your email provider and the services used to receive your message may process the contact details and content you choose to send. Support messages are used to respond to you and address the issue. Please send trip text, photos or diagnostic reports only when needed and when you choose to share them.

You can request deletion of the support messages you sent by emailing the same address. This does not give us access to your private Photos or iCloud journals.
