Your Mac connection and manual clipboard transfers stay under your control.
Your connections
Simple VNC connects your iPhone directly to the Mac you choose through macOS Screen Sharing. It has no Simple VNC account, developer-operated remote desktop server, advertising, tracking or third-party analytics service.
The app sends authentication information and your requested keyboard, pointer and scroll input to that Mac. It receives the desktop image and connection responses from the Mac to display on your iPhone. Desktop images are held for viewing, not recorded as a screen history or uploaded to the developer.
Use a trusted local or private network. Apple authentication is not a promise that every part of a VNC connection is encrypted. Simple VNC does not create a VPN, configure your network or expose your Mac to the internet. If you use a separate service such as Tailscale, that service is governed by its own privacy policy.
Saved data and passwords
Saved connection names, host addresses, usernames, ports, colors and symbols remain in the app's protected local storage. Pointer and scroll speed preferences are saved locally. The app does not sync these through a developer service. Device backup and restore are governed by your Apple settings.
If you choose Remember Password, the password is stored in the device-bound Keychain with protection requiring a device passcode. Saved passwords are not synchronized through iCloud Keychain. Device authentication may unlock protected access; the app does not receive your biometric data.
Manual clipboard transfer
Send Clipboard reads plain text from the iPhone clipboard only through Apple's user-initiated paste control and sends it to the connected Mac. A fresh matching readback is required before the app confirms the transfer. It does not automatically paste or type the text.
Get Clipboard requests plain text from the Mac only when you ask and writes it to the iPhone clipboard after a valid correlated response. It preserves newer local clipboard content if that content changes while the request is pending. The write is local-only, rather than a Universal Clipboard write.
There is no automatic clipboard synchronization or clipboard history. Transfer text is transient and is not included in the app's diagnostic reports. The Mac and the destination app control any text you later paste or save there.
Diagnostics and sharing
Diagnostics contain bounded connection, rendering, input and clipboard-operation status information. They do not include passwords, clipboard contents, screen images or raw protocol packets. Reports are kept locally for up to seven days, with at most five sessions and a fixed storage limit.
Reports are not sent automatically. Copy Summary and Share Report are explicit actions. You choose the destination through the system share sheet. Once you share a report, the receiving app or service and its recipient control that copy.
Deletion and control
Delete a saved connection to remove its local profile and associated remembered password. Diagnostic reports can be deleted in Diagnostics and are also pruned under the retention limit. Deleting the app removes its local app container, but Keychain items or backups can have a different lifecycle; delete remembered connections in the app before uninstalling if you want to remove their stored passwords.
View Only blocks remote input and Send Clipboard while allowing local viewing and supported explicit Get Clipboard. Backgrounding, locking or disconnecting invalidates pending operations. Copies already pasted on your Mac, stored by another app or shared with someone else are not deleted by removing a connection.
Setup and support
On your Mac, enable System Settings → General → Sharing → Screen Sharing and allow access for your Mac user. Add the reachable host address, username and port (normally 5900) in Simple VNC. Your iPhone and Mac need a trusted network route between them. Simple VNC is designed for macOS Screen Sharing and requires iOS 26 or later.
Email hello@fmnobar.com for help. Do not send your Mac password. Include your app version and a brief description of the issue. Share a diagnostic report only if you choose to do so.
Your email provider and the services used to receive support messages may process the contact details and content you send. Those messages are used to respond to you and handle the issue.
This website
This website is separate from Simple VNC. Its hosting provider may process ordinary request information, such as IP addresses and system configuration, to deliver and protect the site. Visiting it does not give the website access to your Mac, passwords or clipboard. See the hosting provider's privacy notice.
